You will offer friendship and companionship to an older person, helping reduce loneliness and social isolation.
This flexible and rewarding prospect is suitable for people who are working, studying, or retired and is a meaningful way to give back to the community.Key DetailsAge: Volunteers must be 18 years or olderCommitment: At least 20 visits per year (about one hour every fortnight)Activities: Share stories over a cup of tea, go for a walk, or enjoy a hobby togetherNo personal care involved: Volunteers do not assist with meals, finances, advocacy, or personal careCentrelink approved: This role meets mutual obligation requirements for those aged 55+What Were Looking ForPatience, empathy, and excellent communication (especially listening)Respect, kindness, reliability, and a non-judgmental attitudeFlexibility and the ability to follow boundaries, policies, and proceduresMost importantly, a genuine enjoyment of spending time with older peopleAdditional InfoA National Police Certificate is required (we'll help you apply, and it's free of charge).
