As part of its forward-looking priorities, the business has created a new opportunity for an experienced Commercial Business Partner to join its Brisbane-based corporate team on a permanent full-time basis. Your new role
This position has been newly created to align with strategic goals set by the Executive Team, supporting the organisation's ongoing commercial evolution. As the Commercial Business Partner, you will work closely with leaders across operational, commercial and finance functions to deliver high-quality financial insights that drive performance. A key accountability will be to lead the development of budgets and forecasts, ensuring these are robust, accurate and reflective of both operational realities and strategic imperatives. You will also undertake regular budget variance analysis, identifying key trends, variances and performance drivers, and communicating these clearly to stakeholders. A major component of the role involves deep-dive analysis of commercial contracts, focusing on pricing structures, cost drivers, performance outcomes and profitability to strengthen commercial decision-making.
Key responsibilities
* Partner with leaders across the business to develop, refine and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts aligned to strategic objectives.
* Conduct ongoing and detailed variance analysis for revenue and cost lines, including insights and recommended actions.
* Complete comprehensive analysis of commercial contracts, including pricing mechanisms, variation formulas and Activity Based Costing drivers.
* Maintain and update key modelling assumptions, financial data sets and driver-based planning inputs.
* Support contract reviews, scenario modelling and commercial negotiations.
* Prepare high-quality analytics, commentary and reporting for senior and executive stakeholders.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements across financial and commercial systems.
* Support ad-hoc modelling, strategic projects and commercial initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
* Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
* Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and variance analysis.
* Ability to interpret, analyse and review complex commercial contracts.
* Advanced Excel capability; familiarity with BI tools advantageous.
* Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
* Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels.
* Proactive, organised and able to operate with autonomy.
