Annual Salary Range: $129,464 - $142,665 plus superannuation
Employment Type: Ongoing, Full-time
Location: Darlinghurst - Hybrid Working
The role supports the IRO by providing analysis, technical support, and reporting services to facilitate its smooth running in alignment with the Office of the Independent Review Officer's business and strategic requirements. The Senior Data Modeller leads the design and implementation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models across IRO's analytics platform (Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI). This includes converting complex operational systems—particularly Resolve (EAV)—into governed, scalable, high‐performance analytical datasets that support BAU reporting, dashboards, and future analytics needs.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead the creation, optimisation and maintenance of conceptual, logical and physical data models to meet IRO's business, statutory and analytics requirements.
* Establish and maintain data modelling standards, including naming conventions, patterns, keys, and conformed dimensions.
* Lead the transformation of Resolve EAV structures into normalised, analytics‐ready models.
* Define and document data mappings from Resolve, ILARS Payments (SAP), Genesys, and GA into curated models, including lineage and business glossaries.
* Identify and resolve data lineage and data quality issues across upstream and curated layers.
* Specify reconciliation and data quality rules, embedding these into data pipelines.
* Partner with governance and security to ensure domain models support RBAC and privacy‐by‐design controls.
* Optimise models for dashboard performance and self‐service analytics; support analysts in best‐practice usage.
* Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise‐grade data models in cloud data warehouses (preferably Snowflake) and Databricks/Delta‐based pipelines.
* Demonstrated senior‐level expertise converting complex operational systems—specifically EAV or schema‐light platforms (e.g., Resolve)—into normalised, high‐performance analytical models suitable for enterprise reporting and analytics.
* Significant experience embedding data quality, reconciliation rules, and modelling standards into data pipelines and delivering models that support security, RBAC and privacy‐by‐design.
* Experience designing curated layers, semantic datasets, and materialised views with strong metadata, governance, and lineage practices.
* Strong Power BI experience, including optimising datasets for reporting and analytical workloads.
* Experience providing technical leadership in data modelling, including reviewing others' models, setting modelling standards, and mentoring analysts or data engineers.
What we need from you
* Motivation, resilience, and strong technical skill set to drive data modelling excellence across a complex analytics environment.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‐functional teams, including governance, security, and analytics stakeholders.
* Strong communication skills for documenting models, guidelines, and providing training or mentoring to analysts and engineers.
* Capacity to manage competing priorities and deliver high‐quality data assets that meet statutory and business needs.
