Placed Recruitment P/L
Event Project Manager

Offer description

About the Venue

This is a well-established, multi-space hospitality venue sitting within a prominent regional hub just outside a major NSW centre. Recently refurbished and industry-awarded, it's known for delivering high-quality experiences across premium hospitality and community events. Multiple function rooms, a solid catering offer, and a loyal base of repeat corporate and community clients keep the calendar full year-round.

The operation is mature and stable. Systems work, teams are in place, and demand is consistent. Deep community ties mean strong repeat business and genuine relationships with local organisations. This isn't a turnaround. It's a genuinely good gig.

The Role

This is a full-time Functions & Events Manager position with end-to-end ownership of all functions and events across the venue.

You'll report directly to the Operations Manager and be responsible for enquiries, sales, planning, coordination and delivery oversight. You'll work closely with kitchen and ops teams to make sure events land smoothly.

The role's become available because the current incumbent is leaving after five successful years. That's created a genuine opportunity to step into something well-established, with the autonomy to make it your own.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Sales & Enquiries

Managing enquiries from walk-ins, phone, website, social media and referrals. Converting enquiries into confirmed bookings. Maintaining strong relationships with repeat corporate, training and community clients.

Planning & Coordination

Creating detailed run sheets for all functions. Coordinating room setups, catering and timing across multiple spaces. Managing several bookings concurrently with confidence and clarity.

Delivery & Communication

Making sure handovers to operations and kitchen teams are clear. Supporting on-the-day coordination where needed. Participating in a rotating weekend presence for key events.

Systems & Improvement

Using existing tools including Function Tracker to manage workflows. Contributing to ongoing improvements in processes and communication. Participating in weekly planning and coordination meetings.

The Events Mix

Predominantly sit-down catered functions with some shared-platter style events. Typical sizes range from 15 to 100+ guests, often running concurrently. Large or high-complexity events are infrequent. Consistent year-round activity driven by training courses, meetings and wakes etc.

This is a predictable, professional events environment. Not a late-night, high-pressure or production-heavy role.

Who This Role Suits

Someone who enjoys structure, coordination and repeat business. Stays calm, organised and strong with time management. Communicates clearly and works well across departments. Is emotionally intelligent and professional in sensitive situations like wakes. Comfortable working autonomously without being micromanaged.

A calm, coaching presence matters here. You'll be working across teams and need to bring people with you rather than push them around.

This role isn't for someone who's ego-driven, purely sales-focused, or chasing constant high-adrenaline events.

What Success Looks Like After 12 MonthsYou're the trusted point of contact for key repeat clients. Internal teams describe handovers as clear and reliable. Weekly planning feels routine, not reactive. Client and stakeholder feedback is consistently positive. The role feels settled, structured and genuinely yours.

Working Style & Conditions

Full-time role, 38 hours per week. Hours and shifts are largely self-managed. High trust, high autonomy environment. Supported by experienced operations and kitchen teams. Rotating weekend presence for key events, balanced with flexibility. Meals on shift.

Remuneration

$80,000 – $95,000, depending on experience and capability.

Why This One?

Step into a stable, established functions operation at an industry-awarded venue. Strong existing pipeline of repeat business built on genuine community relationships. Recent refurbishment with more improvements planned. Autonomy without chaos. Professional, well-supported environment. Long-term role with realistic expectations.
