About the office

The position sits within the Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience portfolio which includes Student Success, Indigenous Education, Chaplaincy, Libraries, Student Life and Wellbeing.

About the role

The Student Life team plays a vital role in helping students transition into university and engage fully in campus life. They collaborate with students to deliver programs and initiatives that foster a vibrant, inclusive, and connected community across all campuses. This position will primarily coordinate the Student Mentoring Program and support participating students. The position will report to the Team Leader, Student Life.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver engaging online and on‐campus student activities, including coordinating logistics, training volunteers and mentors, and supporting event delivery.
* Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of orientation activities and on‐campus events to enhance student transition, engagement, and sense of belonging.
* Coordinate the Student Mentoring Program and support participating students, including the development of training materials informed by research on the first‐year experience in higher education.
* Build connections between students, staff, and the wider community to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion.
* Design and support student‐led programs and events by coordinating the recruitment, onboarding, training and supervision of mentors and casual staff.
* Collaborate with faculties and university offices to ensure effective communication and to address sensitive student wellbeing matters.
* Support financial planning and budget management for Student Life programs, including processing payments and liaising with suppliers.

Qualifications, skills & experience

* Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in a similar student engagement or support role.
* Strong understanding of university policies, procedures, and legislative standards, with the ability to apply them effectively.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills to engage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to manage time, adapt to changing priorities, and handle multiple tasks efficiently.Sound knowledge of current issues and trends in the higher education sector.
