The role
Overview
We are looking for a Risk Consultant to provide advisory and delivery support for major infrastructure and development programs across Australia. This role involves working as a consultant within client teams, helping to establish and manage risk frameworks, facilitate workshops, and deliver quantitative and qualitative risk analysis. You will play a key role in enabling confident decision‑making and ensuring predictable outcomes for complex projects. Responsibilities
Lead client‑facing risk engagements across strategic, technical, and operational domains. Facilitate risk workshops (Project/Program, HAZID, HAZOP, CHAIR, Safety in Design, Bowtie, QRA, 3LoD, etc.) with multidisciplinary teams. Apply and build MonteCarlo Simulation models to assess cost and schedule uncertainty. Develop and implement tailored risk frameworks aligned with ISO standards and industry standards, including WHS compliance. Deliver high‑impact reports and insights to engineering and executive stakeholders. Collaborate across engineering, business, and operational teams to embed risk into decision‑making. Support compliance, assurance, and governance activities across major projects. Engage stakeholders and facilitate workshops with multi‑disciplinary teams and external partners. Provide clear and concise risk insights to senior leaders and governance groups. Day in the Life
Lead monthly risk reviews and workshops. Update risk registers and treatment plans. Run quantitative risk analysis updates and produce P50/P90 reporting. Prepare governance dashboards and present key risk insights. Support procurement and contract development with risk allocation advice. Collaborate with PMO, planning, commercial, and delivery teams. Qualifications
Engineering background strongly preferred (degree in Engineering, Risk, or related field). 7+ years of experience in risk management within the engineering or infrastructure sectors, with experience in Defence or the Australian industry desirable. Proven experience delivering quantitative risk analysis for large programs or portfolios. Knowledge of construction delivery risks including design development, procurement, market capacity, and consenting. Strong facilitation skills and experience with Safety in Design, project and enterprise risk. Proficiency in tools such as @Risk, BowTieXP, Primavera Risk Analysis, ARM.
