St John NT is seeking a driven, people-focused WHSE Manager to join our People & Culture team and play a critical role in keeping our people safe while supporting lifesaving services across the Northern Territory.
This is a high-impact leadership role where safety, strategy, and operations intersect.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, you will act as a trusted WHSE advisor across the organisation, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, operational leaders, and key stakeholders.
You will lead the delivery of St John NT's WHSE framework, driving compliance, strengthening governance, and embedding a strong, proactive safety culture across a complex, operational environment.
This role has responsibility for Work Health & Safety and Injury Management, leading a high-performing WHSE function that supports continual improvement and best practice outcomes.
You will also collaborate closely with P&C Operations, Mental Health & Wellbeing, and Payroll, ensuring safety and wellbeing are integrated across the employee lifecycle.
What You'll Do
* Lead and oversee St John NT's WHSE Management System and reporting
* Review, develop and maintain WHS policies and procedures aligned with legislation and best practice
* Drive improvements in safety performance through accountability, leadership and behavioural change
* Build WHSE leadership capability across managers and operational teams
* Provide specialist WHSE advice, including identification and mitigation of high-risk activities
* Identify WHSE training requirements and ensure effective delivery and compliance
What You'll Bring
* Tertiary qualifications in WHSE, Business, HR or a related discipline
* Minimum 10 years' experience in WHSE leadership roles within medium to large, complex organisations
* Proven leadership and people management capability
* Strong experience with WHSE systems, reporting and continuous improvement
* Exceptional communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills
* High-level ability to interpret and apply WHSE legislation
