ABOUT THE ROLE
Blacktree is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will work across acquisition, integration, and sustainment projects —contributing to the design, testing, and delivery of advanced communications systems. This is a hands-on, learning-rich role that offers exposure to the full engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Support the development and maintenance of interface, system, and subsystem specifications, ensuring traceability from requirements to verification.
* Contribute to system design, modelling, analysis, and selection of hardware/software components.
* Assist with establishing configuration baselines and managing engineering changes.
* Develop and deliver verification and validation (V&V) artefacts, including test plans, procedures, and reports.
* Provide onsite and remote engineering support to manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, installation, and maintenance.
* Support safety and technical risk management programs by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks and hazards.
* Assist with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities, including reliability, maintainability, and availability analysis.
* Conduct engineering and obsolescence investigations and prepare technical reports.
* Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
* Contribute to bids, tenders, and proposals to help secure future work.
* Be available for domestic and occasional international travel.
ABOUT YOU
Blacktree Technology invites applications from candidates who can satisfy many of the following criteria:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Systems, Communications, Mechatronics, Aerospace or related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years' professional engineering experience.
* Large Australian Defence engineering and technology program experience, or exposure.
* Innovative, resourceful, adaptable, and thrives in dynamic environments, can think critically and craft solutions amidst uncertainty and limited supervision.
* An Australian citizen, or with the right to work in Australia, capable of obtaining a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance; this is essential.
