Details: A vacancy exists for a highly motivated and experienced Chef to work closely with the Catering Manager to deliver food services at Birrigai Outdoor School. The successful applicant will be required to work in a small team under limited direction to ensure meals are prepared and served in accordance with national food safety standards. This position also includes responsibility for ensuring all dietary requirements of visitors are met and leading kitchen operations in the absence of the Catering Manager.
The general hours of operation for the Birrigai kitchen are between 6.00am and 8.00pm Monday to Friday however depending on Birrigai’s schedule of bookings, some additional evening and weekend work may be required.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
* Certificate III or above in commercial cookery or equivalent plus a Food Safety Certificate incorporating HACCP.
* First Aid Certificate and CPR or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
* Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra (act.gov.au)
* Drivers Licence (C-class) and own arrangements for transportation to the site are mandatory
Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
