J G King Homes, Victoria's largest builder of Steel Frame homes, is seeking an energetic & highly motivated individual to join our Ballarat team.

The Design & Building Manager focuses on delivering excellence in design assessment, pricing, and cost management for all project sales within the wholesale division of JG King Homes, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with business objectives.
Duties Include
* Compliance with the Building Code of Australia, local planning requirements, and developer guidelines.
* Optimal design efficiency and buildability, minimising construction complexity and cost.
* Alignment with customer expectations, market trends, and JG King's product offering.
* Provide technical input and feedback during concept design, working drawings, and documentation stages.
* Contract Review & Negotiations: Review contracts and project agreements to identify design, cost, and delivery risks.
* Provide technical input and recommendations during contract negotiations to ensure commercial outcomes align with business objectives.
* Collaborate with legal and commercial teams to resolve contractual issues efficiently.
* Collaborate closely with Drafting and Estimating teams to resolve design queries and drive solutions.
* Review and sign off all key design documentation prior to tender or construction release.
* Oversee the pricing and estimating process for all wholesale division, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing aligned with business targets and market conditions.
* Timely completion of estimates, tenders, and customer pricing requests.
* Regularly analyse cost data and trends to identify savings opportunities and potential risks.
* Work with Estimating and Procurement teams to evaluate and improve supplier and subcontractor pricing, and review material and labour costs to maintain competitive margins.
Skills
* 5–10 years' experience in residential or multi‑unit construction leadership.
* Demonstrated experience managing civil works scope and contractors.
* Strong working knowledge of NDIS housing and SDA compliance.
* Proven ability to manage high‑performance teams across multiple regions.
* Proficient in construction finance, scheduling and reporting tools.
