This is a 5-year fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP.
About the Branch
Finance and Commercial Services (FaCS) is responsible for:
Delivering the Department's strategic financial objectives to ensure high standards of governance and risk management, and the ongoing monitoring and enhancement of accounting practices, standards, and systems.
Financial planning and linking financial planning with budget allocation and management.
Commercial services to develop and implement frameworks and tools to support commercial decision-making, ensure financial and contract risk management, and provide commercial advice and management.
As the Chief Finance Officer, you will oversee a budget of $ billion and work in collaboration with all areas of the Department to provide effective financial and procurement leadership, guidance, and direction.
About You
As a key part of the Corporate Executive, you will lead the Department's strategic financial objectives through the development, implementation, and monitoring of business needs and initiatives.
You will undertake the role of Chief Finance Officer for the Department as prescribed in the Financial Management Act 2006 and ensure corporate governance requirements and risk management standards are met.
The successful applicant will establish and maintain effective partnerships, networks, and forums with key internal and external stakeholders at a state and national level.
With high-level collaboration and negotiation skills, you will provide financial and procurement consultancy services and strategic, timely advice to the Minister for Education, Director General, and Deputy Director General of Education Business Services.
You will have knowledge of financial management systems and reporting to enable effective monitoring of financial systems in schools, ensuring accountability and compliance.
With a proactive approach, you will identify trends and emerging issues that may impact the Department's performance and reform opportunities.
