Family Violence Prevention Solicitor

We invite an experienced Family Violence Prevention Solicitor to join our team in a role that involves providing culturally appropriate legal advice and representation to clients across family law, care and protection, and civil law matters.


About the Role:

* Representing and advising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in family, domestic violence, and care & protection matters.
* Appearing in Local Courts for duty lawyer services and managing a busy caseload.
* Supporting early intervention, outreach, and community legal education programs.
* Providing guidance and mentorship to more junior team members.
* Contributing to law reform and policy submissions that shape systemic change.


Your Key Responsibilities:

1. You will represent and advise clients on family, domestic violence, and care & protection matters.
2. You will appear in Local Courts for duty lawyer services and manage a busy caseload.
3. You will support early intervention, outreach, and community legal education programs.
4. You will provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
5. You will contribute to law reform and policy submissions.


What You'll Need:

* A minimum of 3 years' post-admission experience in family and domestic violence, care & protection, and family law.
* A current NSW Practising Certificate (or ability to obtain one immediately).
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters and appear in various courts.
* Strong cultural awareness and understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal communities.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to support clients experiencing trauma.
* A willingness to travel to regional and remote locations as needed.
