Senior Associate - Public Law

An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Associate (5+ PQE) to join an established Canberra based public law practice advising government clients on complex, high profile matters.
This role offers exposure to a broad mix of advisory, probity and dispute resolution work, including major procurement and grants programs, governance issues, administrative law, investigations and litigation. You will work closely with senior practitioners on sensitive and strategically significant matters across the Commonwealth public sector.
The position suits a lawyer who enjoys applying strong judgment and technical skill to solve practical problems, and who is comfortable building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders. The role also provides scope to mentor junior lawyers and take increasing responsibility for matters and clients.
Key responsibilities include:
* Advising government clients on public law, probity, procurement and governance matters
* Acting on administrative law and dispute resolution matters, including litigation and investigations
* Drafting high-quality advice, submissions and correspondence
* Managing matters with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Supporting and mentoring junior team members
To be successful, you will have:
* At least 5 years' post qualification experience in public law, litigation, administrative law or related areas
* Experience advising public sector clients, or strong interest in government work
* Excellent drafting, analytical and statutory interpretation skills
* Sound knowledge of court processes and/or government decision-making frameworks
* A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and strong communication skills
