**About us**
The Portable Long Service Authority is an independent statutory body established to administer the _Long Service Benefits Portability Act 2018_. The Act, together with the _Long Service Benefits Portability Regulations 2020 _provide a Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme.
The Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme began on 1 July 2019 to ensure eligible workers in the community services, contract cleaning and security industries can build up long service benefits based on time in their industry, rather than with a single employer.
**About the role**
The Finance Officer is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of transactional activities, management of the Authority's bank accounts, and preparing bank reconciliations. They will also provide support with all financial services functions such as providing financial information, advice and reporting, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations relating to financial management in a Victorian Government Statutory Authority.
The Finance Officer reports to the Finance Manager, and is involved with:
- The daily accounts receivable functions including customer receipting, bank reconciliations, debtor follow up and general banking.
- The daily accounts payable functions including purchase order and invoice processing and generating payments.
- Managing the finance team inbox, directing queries, and providing support to the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Officers as needed.
- Prepare and update weekly and monthly debtor reports and other ad hoc reports as required.
**About you**
As the Finance Officer, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliation processes.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to form sound working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Display strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Have an understanding of financial services accounting concepts, reconciliation processes, statutory requirements, procurement, and risk management to assist with the provision of internal financial advice and delivery of financial operational requirements
