Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a Senior Environmental Planner with a background in Botany or Ecology to join our Ecological Sciences team to provide project management, legislative guidance and client relationship management to multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on native vegetation and biodiversity.
We’re a large team of highly skilled and passionate terrestrial and aquatic ecologists. This is an opportunity for you to lead our projects and deliver better environmental outcomes for our communities, and you’ll also be encouraged to make the role your own and focus on areas and projects that you are truly passionate about.
You’ll maintain true work-life balance in a fun, supportive, passionate and inclusive environment, and your role can be part-time or full-time, and based in our Melbourne, Geelong or Mildura office.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
* Leading and overseeing the planning, execution, and monitoring of ecology projects and coordination of multidisciplinary ecology teams (flora, fauna and aquatic).
* Cultivating strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored biodiversity solutions.
* Preparing comprehensive proposals and bids for prospective projects.
* Navigating regulatory frameworks and obtaining necessary environmental approvals for project implementation e.g. EPBC referrals, FFG permits and planning permits to remove native vegetation.
* Staying abreast of native vegetation regulations and land-use policies at local, state, and federal levels.
* Leadership - guiding our teams in implementation of Victoria’s native vegetation regulations and other environmental legislation related to ecology.
* Contributing to the development of comprehensive environmental management plans, strategies and reporting.
* Opportunities to participate in ecology fieldwork (if desired).
What you will bring to the team:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in ecology, botany, biodiversity, or a related field
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in ecology, biodiversity planning, environmental planning, or related roles from within a consulting environment
* Strong understanding of native vegetation regulations, environmental planning and approvals
* Proven track record of successfully managing projects and client relationships.
