About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you'll assist in managing the hotel's financial operations, ensuring accurate transaction and payment processing, and maintaining up-to-date financial records. Additionally, you'll play a key part in maintaining financial integrity, supporting internal departments, and delivering exceptional service to our suppliers and clients.
Key Responsibilities
• Process and pay hotel expenses in line with accounting policies
• Verify invoice accuracy, coding, and departmental authorisation
• Reconcile supplier statements and hotel payment accounts
• Maintain accurate records in the accounts receivable ledger
• Raise and send invoices to clients with outstanding balances
• Follow up on overdue accounts and ensure timely collections
• Reconcile credit card transactions and client inquiries
• Ensure all accounts balance with the general ledger each period
• Load payment files and ensure proper documentation and approvals
• Support other Finance team members and attend scheduled meetings
• Maintain compliance with hotel finance procedures and WH&S standards
Skills & Experience:
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Courteous, efficient, and professional approach
• Experience with Sun Accounting and MS Office
• Experience with Opera PMS and Tyalls (preferred)
• Understanding of finance policies and procedures
• Relevant training or qualification in accounting or finance
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Minimum 6 months experience in a similar role or classification
