Senior Business Analyst – Federal Government | Hybrid (ACT or QLD)

Really Awesome People (RAP), a trusted supplier of ICT professionals to the Australian Public Sector is partnering with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts to source an experienced Senior Business Analyst for a high-profile digital transformation project within the Change and Project Management Office (CaPMO).
About the Role: You'll lead research, discovery, and business-requirements analysis to support the design and implementation of a new Program and Project Management and Reporting Tool (PPMRT).
The role will suit a strategic, stakeholder-savvy BA who thrives on process improvement, systems evaluation, and clear documentation that drives decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse existing project-management processes, reporting, and frameworks.
Conduct stakeholder discovery workshops with Project Managers, Business Owners, and Senior Responsible Officers.
Define current vs future-state workflows to inform system design and change planning.
Develop detailed business-requirements documentation (functional & non-functional).
Align findings with the broader Project Management Plan (PMP) and departmental strategy.
Produce artefacts such as Discovery Reports, Stakeholder Engagement Plans, and Recommendation Reports.
Evaluate off-the-shelf PPMRT options and assess feasibility for integration across government programs.
What You'll Bring
Proven track record in business analysis, requirements definition, and process mapping for large-scale programs.
Excellent stakeholder-engagement, workshop-facilitation, and communication skills.
Experience with business-process improvement and feasibility assessments (SFIA Level 4–5).
Strong analytical thinking, solution design, and documentation abilities.
Understanding of APIs, system integrations, and product-based development approaches.
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary project environment.
