Roles & Responsibilities
The Production Manager for the Machine Shop oversees all aspects of machining operations, ensuring adherence to production plans, quality standards, and safety regulations. The individual will be responsible for coordinating with various teams to optimize resources, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning: Manage machining operations to align with monthly production plans and customer delivery schedules.
2. Team Coordination: Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure effective machine loading and adherence to dispatch plans.
3. Supply Chain Management: Ensure availability of raw materials for production and address shortages or delays promptly.

6. Innovation: Support innovation efforts to enhance machining processes.
7. Scheduling: Efficiently schedule and distribute workforce to optimize manpower utilization.
8. Workforce Management: Approve additional workforce requisitions as needed to meet production demands.
9. KPI Analysis: Regularly review KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
10. Operational Performance: Drive initiatives to enhance overall operational performance.
11. New Equipment Planning: Plan for new equipment based on production needs and coordinate with project teams for integration.
12. Maintenance Collaboration: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment effectiveness and address breakdowns promptly.
13. Quality Assurance: Lead quality assurance efforts, collaborating with QA/QC teams on dimension and NDT activities.
14. Quality Standards: Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout production processes. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems.
15. NCR Process: Guide the team in Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process as part of cross-functional teams.
16. MIS Reports: Analyze MIS reports to gain insights into departmental performance and support decision-making.
17. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives through practices such as 5S, TPM, and Lean Management.
18. Gemba Walks: Conduct regular Gemba walks to identify and resolve operational issues proactively.
19. Safety and Environmental Health: Manage safety and environmental health in the plant, implementing corrective actions for improvement.
20. Audits: Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education and Certifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering.
2. Masters Degree: Masters degree in Industrial Management is preferable.
Experience:
1. 6-16 Years of Experience: 6 to 16 years of proven experience as a Manager in Machine Shop for any foundry or casting manufacturing industry.
Technical / Functional Expertise & Other Competencies:
1. Casting Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the casting industry processes, including casting methods, materials, and quality standards.
2. Machining Processes: Comprehensive knowledge of machining processes, CNC programming, tooling, and machine operations.
3. Quality Management Systems: Strong background in quality management systems, including the ability to conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
4. Technical Drawing Interpretation: Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, especially proof machining drawings, and ensuring their alignment with production requirements.

7. AS-9100 & ISO9001/14001/45001: Well versed with the knowledge of AS-9100 & ISO9001/14001/45001 along with knowledge of 7 QC tools.
8. Lean, 5S and Six Sigma: Additional knowledge of Lean, 5S and Six Sigma methodologies is preferable.
9. Microsoft Office Applications: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
10. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
11. Leadership Skills: Leadership skills to manage a team, organize daily reviews, and initiate discussions for issue resolution and brainstorming.
