About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Zone Substation Electrical Technician based in Orange.
The Zone Substation Electrical Technician is responsible for construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, inspection, testing and reporting the nature and condition of network asset and the installation commissioning and testing of associated zone substation and distribution equipment.
Key responsibilities
* Construction and maintenance of Zone Substations
* Installation commissioning and testing of associated zone substation and distribution equipment
* Carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage engineering services
* Inspecting, testing and reporting nature and condition of network assets to maintain quality standards
* Accessing and using computerised systems to operate remote equipment
* Operating plant and equipment associated with zone substations in a safe manner
About You
As a Zone Substation Electrical Technician, you will be able to demonstrate practical application of the qualification for this role. You will be capable of undertaking the coordination/management of construction and maintenance of zone substations and the installation, commissioning and testing of zone substation equipment. This position will involve travel, willingness to work away.
Required Qualifications
* Certificate IV in ESI Power Systems Substation or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications
* Qualified Supervisors Certificate
* Driver's licence
* WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
Skills and Experience
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment
* Basic skills in computer operations
* Sound communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate electrically in writing and liaise with stakeholders and customers in an amicable manner
* Willingness to travel and work away from home
* Experience in the practice of the technical and practical aspects of the Electrical Technician and Technical Officer roles
* Experience in complying with and promoting the Occupational Health and Safety values of Essential Energy's commitment to safety
