U&u Recruitment Partners are proud to be partnering with a leading Victorian regulator who are seeking a Senior Solicitor – Regulatory to join its Legal, Governance and Regulatory Policy function on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organisational uplift across legal, governance, procurement, and regulatory functions, ideal for a proactive, skilled lawyer ready to make a tangible impact.
This is a high-impact in-house role for a mid-level lawyer (3-7 years’ PQE) who enjoys working at the intersection of law, policy and regulation, and who wants their work to make a genuine difference to the safety and wellbeing of the community.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to a Legal Manager and working closely with a fantastic Head of Legal and General Counsel, daily tasks will include:
* Drafting and reviewing regulatory and coercive instruments (e.g. directions, notices, prohibition instruments);
* Advising on complex statutory interpretation and administrative decision-making;
* Supporting regulatory powers, enforcement and compliance frameworks;
* Managing administrative law and review matters (including VCAT);
* Briefing and instructing external Counsel and law firms;
* Leading legal and compliance projects and training initiatives; and
* Engaging with senior stakeholders, regulated entities and government partners.
About You:
You are a confident, solutions-focused lawyer who enjoys working in a dynamic regulatory environment. Experience working with regulators, government, or complex statutory schemes will be highly regarded.
You will bring:
* Admission as an Australian Lawyer and eligibility for a Victorian practising certificate;
* Substantial post-admission experience (in-house and/or private practice);
* Strong administrative / regulatory law capability;
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
* The ability to provide clear, practical advice to non-lawyers and executives.
