The Village Director is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Village and its staff, and for delivering agreed business objectives. The Village Director will also be the primary point of contact for the University.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Village team.
* Lead the emergency management response for the Village as required.
* Oversee the day-to-day operations and overall management of the Village.
* Manage Village budgets and financial performance to ensure alignment with agreed financial objectives.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant agreements, lease terms, and facility-related contracts.
* Oversee all People and Culture matters, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management, in collaboration with the People and Culture team.
* Plan and execute marketing and sales strategies in partnership with the Marketing team.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with universities—particularly senior university management—as well as with creditors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, demonstrating a strong commitment to the University partner.
* Champion a vibrant and positive student life experience within the Village.
* Facilitate and support the delivery of a successful short-stay accommodation program.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the General Manager.
* Remain adaptable and open to evolving responsibilities, as the needs of our residents and business priorities may change over time.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualification

* Significant experience in a senior operational management role within a service-based industry.

* Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop high-performing teams, including staff and contractors.

* Strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering positive resident experiences.
* Demonstrated financial acumen, with the ability to analyse, interpret, and communicate accurate financial information.
* Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.
* Confident in building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including students, university partners, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Experience working within or alongside the tertiary education sector, with an understanding of its trends and challenges.
* Proven ability to engage effectively with young adults and support their wellbeing.
* Willingness and ability to participate fully in the cultural, pastoral, and recreational life of the Village.
* Strong change management capabilities and experience implementing operational and strategic initiatives.
* Operational understanding of asset and facility management.
* Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database systems, and platforms such as StarRez.
* High levels of personal integrity, professionalism, discretion, and ethical standards.
* Energetic, proactive, and adaptable with a solution-focused and innovative mindset.
* Hold a formal qualification in a relevant area, preferably in hotel or business management, attained at University or other tertiary educational institution.
* Current National Police Clearance Check.
