HR Advisors and HR Managers drive the design, delivery and implementation of strategies which contribute to organisational goals and priorities, or those which support staff and managers.

People Branch is seeking motivated and experienced HR professionals to fill current and future vacancies across the following sections:

- Workforce Strategy
- People Services and Safety
- Workplace Relations and Learning
- Intelligence Training

We have vacancies now, but we are also building a talent pipeline to fill vacancies as they arise over the next 18 months. Candidates are encouraged to outline their skills, experience and capabilities in relation to specific or multiple functions.

Role responsibilities

As an APSS5 HR Advisor, you will:

- provide high-quality, efficient and accurate administrative support and services to stakeholders on a range of HR-related functions
- build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- identify opportunities for process improvement initiatives and workflows which reflect innovative and forward leaning HR practices
- support the management of complex people cases with expertise, sensitivity and discretion

As an APS6 HR Manager, you will:

- provide specialist advice and services to stakeholders on a range of HR-related functions, in relation to industrial instruments, relevant legislation and policies
- lead the development of HR policies and procedures that meet legislative and agency requirements
- lead the implementation of process improvement initiatives and workflows which reflect innovative and forward leaning HR practices
- manage complex people cases with expertise, sensitivity and discretion.

Your skills and capabilities

We invite applications from people with the following experience, skills and attributes:

APS5 HR Advisor

- Demonstrated experience providing advice and support across a range of functions in a HR role (or similar)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, acting with professionalism and integrity
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage a high volume of work and competing priorities
- Ability to interpret and apply policy and legislation to routine and moderately complex workforce issues

APS6 HR Manager

- Ability to identify process improvement and contribute to policy development, reflecting innovative and forward leaning HR practices
- Proven capacity to manage competing priorities and deliver results within deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement on complex or sensitive workforce issues
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring or supervising staff members

Desirable skills and experience

- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources and SAP HR system experience
- Previous experience in a HR role within the APS or similar environment

Eligibility

- Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
- Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
- Pre-Employment Screening – All candidates must satisfy an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to being offered employment at the ACIC.
