About the Role
We have an opportunity for a Senior Safety Auditor to join our fast-paced Internal Audit team.
This role will be crucial to the safety audit team providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services to add value and improve operations across the Endeavour Group of companies.
Be part of a diverse, collaborative, high performing team to deliver the annual audit plan (individual site and safety systems audits).
The position will be located at our Head office in Sydney, Barangaroo.
Key Responsibilities
Report to the Safety Audit Manager – Stores & Hotels and support the delivery of IA objectives, providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the organisation's operations.
Bring a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and test the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes.
Lead and conduct assurance engagements, support management in delivering the annual audit plan, and provide coaching to team members.
Support the leadership team in the development, planning and management of the Safety, Health & Wellbeing Assurance Program and provide independent and objective assurance of compliance with processes and procedures, strategies, plans and objectives.
Ensure that safety, health and workers compensation self-insurance licence requirements are met in line with Board and State licensing requirements.
Provide advisory services and promote continuous improvement in safety performance and safety management systems within the Endeavour Group.
Support the business to maintain Safety, Health and Wellbeing and Injury Management Self-Insurance Licence through completion of operational and National Audit Tool (NAT) system audits.
Assist the Senior Manager / Audit Manager to develop and maintain the national safety audit assurance program across retail stores and hotels.
Lead the execution of high-risk store / hotel safety audits and system management audits, identifying and assessing key risks in operational controls.
Support the development and maintenance of the audit schedule using a risk-based approach that factors in performance, risks, previous audit results and regulatory enforcement.
Present audit findings in both written and verbal format to clearly communicate to various levels of management, including the Audit and Risk Committee.
Support team members to achieve a level of engagement with the business that promotes IA as a trusted advisor.
Identify, recommend and support operational improvement of IA's own processes and tools.
Act as an ambassador for IA during assignments, engaging with various levels of management to facilitate the achievement of IA objectives.
Take initiative to achieve and evolve on IA deliverables.
Required Qualifications
Certificate IV (as a minimum) in Safety, Health and Wellbeing (Diploma in WHS is highly desirable).
Experience with an equivalent position as Senior Safety Adviser / Auditor with Environment, Health and Safety / operational audit experience (Highly Desired).
Experience in auditing Safety, Health and Wellbeing Management Systems (Desirable).
Proficient in the Australian Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Desirable).
Current or previous experience working within a Self-Insurance Licence organisation (Desirable).
Previous operational experience in retail stores and/or hotels (Desirable).
Ability to provide recommendations for integrating Safety, Health and Wellbeing management systems into business practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to both business and store/hotel operations as required.
Ability to interpret and analyse data.
Ability to work with teams of auditors and managers.
Ability to build strong relationships with business stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving aptitude, with attention to detail.
Must be available to travel interstate once a month for a 5-day period (1 week).
