Position Title: Payroll Specialist – Backpayment ProjectContract Type: Full-time, 6-Month ContractHourly Rate: $55 - $65 per hour + SuperLocation:Melbourne – Initial weeks onsite, then Work from Home flexibilityConfidential RoleAbout the Role We’re currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to support a complex aged care backpayment project. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with an immediate start. You will play a key role in auditing and reconciling historical payroll data, ensuring compliance with enterprise agreements (EAs), employment contracts, and statutory entitlements.Reporting to the Payroll Manager and working alongside the broader HR and Finance teams, you will be instrumental in managing underpayment calculations, long service leave (LSL) validation, and pay progression analysis.Key ResponsibilitiesAudit and calculate 62 identified underpayments related to aged care employeesReview and reconcile data across TechOne payroll system and employee recordsAnalyse and apply pay progression structures across multiple Enterprise Agreements (14 groups)Validate and interpret employment contracts, ensuring compliance with awards and NESTrack and manage annual pay uplift cycles and historical changes over multiple yearsProvide support to the Payroll team (2000 employees), particularly during periods of high volumeDemonstrate working knowledge of long service leave (LSL) legislation and calculationsEnsure all work is compliant with industrial relations obligations and internal governanceLiaise with stakeholders across payroll, HR, and compliance teamsDownload and match payroll data from the systemwith internal records and manual inputsSkills & Experience RequiredProven experience as a Payroll Specialist or Senior Payroll Officer in aged care, health, or government sectorsSolid understanding of Enterprise Agreements, employment contracts, and backpay methodologiesHands-on experience using TechnologyOne (TechOne)Strong reconciliation, auditing, and data validation skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills – comfortable working collaboratively and independentlyExperience working in high-churn, high-volume environmentsAdditional InformationStart Date: ASAPInterview Process: 1 stage interviewInitial training/onboarding onsite, then flexible WFHContract is confidential, working on a sensitive remediation projectHow do your skills match this job?How do your skills match this job?Sign in and update your profile to get insights.Researching careers?
