2026 Offshore Production Technician Traineeship Program Operations Training Program

Programmed, together with INPEX Operations Australia Pty Ltd (INPEX), is proud to offer Traineeship opportunities for individuals who aspire to work in the energy industry.

The INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG energy development incorporates some of the world's largest and most advanced offshore and onshore processing facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the LNG industry.

Operations Offshore Trainees will gain extensive technical knowledge on hydrocarbon processing and ancillary systems, while developing skills to operate process facilities.

Successful program completion will gain a nationally accredited Certificate III in Process Plant Operations, which is a recognised standard in the Australian Hydrocarbon Industry.

Trainees will be employed by Programmed and hosted by INPEX for the duration of the two-year program.

To be successful, you will be a resident of Western Australia.

* Proven work experience with sound problem solving and decision‐making skills
* Mechanically minded
* Demonstrated high level of diagnostic, verbal, and numerical reasoning skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to Health and Safety
* Completion of year 10
* Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a day/night roster pattern
* Experience working in an Offshore environment
* Industry experience in Mining, Defence, Manufacturing or Light Industrial

The Positions

This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the Energy industry.

The structured training program has a strong practical element, with facility-based placements at INPEX's Offshore Facilities. The classroom-based learning and competency will be conducted collectively in Perth and potentially at INPEX's Ichthys Onshore Facility in Darwin. Trainees will be provided with ongoing support and mentoring throughout the program.

Roster

The Traineeship is expected to commence in early July 2026, with the initial 8–12 weeks based in Perth for training towards the Certificate III in Process Plant Operations through South Metropolitan TAFE. Following this initial training block, successful candidates will mobilise to either the CPF or FPSO, where they will be assigned to a panel and commence rostered shifts.

While aligned to a 3:4, 3:5 roster, Trainees will have 3 weeks on facility, followed by a 3-week break and then attend INPEX Perth Office for 1 week or 2 weeks (Mon–Fri 7.6 hr) to complete training and work on task books.
