We are a local, family-owned and operated business offering a pick-up/drop-off playgroup service for dogs and puppies.
This demanding role requires you to efficiently perform both pleasant and unpleasant tasks with high energy levels. You must be able to follow instructions, multitask, work independently, and be quick on your feet.
Applicants should be highly reliable, trustworthy, and hardworking, prioritizing the best interests of our business and clients.
You will need experience in interpreting dog body language and recognizing signals indicating potential confrontation. It is crucial to be highly observant and aware that the safety and welfare of our dogs are paramount.
A successful candidate must:
- Hold a manual driver's license to drive the business vehicle.
- Possess a thorough understanding of dog behavior.
- Align with our Force Free, Fear Free values.
- Understand Positive Reinforcement techniques.
- Confidently manage groups of dogs with varying energies in a calm, compassionate manner.
- Drive and walk in various weather conditions.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills in-person, via text, and over the phone.
- Demonstrate knowledge of social media platforms.
- Be available to work weekdays between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm.
Tasks include:
- Pick-up and transportation of up to six dogs.
- Supervise, engage with, and monitor the dogs under your care.
- Practice basic dog training and manners.
- Clean up dog waste and adhere to council guidelines.
- Photograph and upload stories of dogs for social media using positive, gentle methods.
- Maintain daily records of dog behavior, activities, and well-being.
Requirements:
- A clean driving record and current Australian manual driver's license.
- Current police check.
- Fully charged smartphone with data capabilities for photo and video uploads to clients via our app.
- Physical fitness, energy, and an injury-free status.
- Enjoyment of outdoor activities despite weather conditions.
Preferred qualifications include:
Animal-related certifications such as Cert III Companion Animal Services or online course certificates.
Alternatively,
At least 6 months' experience in the companion dog industry, including roles like doggy daycare, grooming, boarding, training, or vet nursing.
