Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team at Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the Food & Beverage operation by assisting with food preparation, maintaining kitchen standards, and ensuring all dishes are prepared and presented to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast‐paced kitchen environment and is committed to delivering exceptional food experiences.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation in line with menu specifications and kitchen standards.
* Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently and delivered in a timely manner during service.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
* Monitor stock levels, assist with receiving deliveries, and ensure correct storage of food and ingredients.
* Reduce wastage through proper stock control and adherence to kitchen procedures.
* Follow all food safety, hygiene, and WHS guidelines, including HACCP and food handling standards.
* Prepare mise‐en‐place and support the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
* Attend team briefings, training sessions, and actively contribute to a collaborative kitchen environment.
* Maintain high standards of personal presentation, punctuality, and professionalism.
* Support colleagues during busy service periods to ensure an excellent guest dining experience.

What We're Looking For

* Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment.
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast‐paced environment.
* A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
* Passion for hospitality and delivering high‐quality food experiences.
