* This is an exciting opportunity to take on the challenge as the Business Improvement Manager at our Aluminium Smelter in Portland, Victoria.
You'll collaborate with a global network to implement impactful strategies and drive operational efficiency through our Business System (ABS) and Operational Excellence (OpEx).
The role involves:
* Providing expert advice, guidance, and problem-solving support in the operation and maintenance of equipment by applying Lean Manufacturing and ABS methodologies;
* Designing and implementing ABS principles in each department;
* Developing innovative and flexible approaches and solutions;
* Facilitating the improvement of equipment and people utilisation;
* Identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities;
* Monitoring execution progress and ensuring timely delivery of planned improvement initiatives;
* Undertaking risk analysis and developing contingency plans.
You'll be responsible for coaching the location's leadership team to adopt Quality Management and Lean Manufacturing concepts and apply them across the business.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
* A tertiary qualification in engineering or equivalent operations/industry experience;
* At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing/line areas, preferably with Alcoa or similar industry;
* Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to motivate individuals or groups at all levels of the organisation;
* A high-level understanding of team dynamics and practical knowledge of ABS methods applied to business improvement.
Our Portland Smelter produces approximately 19% of Australia's total aluminium production. We're proud of our long-standing relationships within our local community.
