We are recruiting for multiple water and wastewater service operator roles. If you are looking for a hands‐on role where you can make a real difference in your community, this may be the job for you. Join ourNorthteam as a Water and/or Wastewater Services Operator and help keep Tasmania's drinking water and wastewater systems running smoothly, safely, and sustainably. In these roles you'll be responsible for the day‐to‐day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment services. From supporting clean and reliable drinking water supplies to ensuring wastewater treatment systems operate safely and in line with environmental standards, your work will directly contribute to the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians. Whether completing planned maintenance or responding to unexpected issues, no two days will be the same.

Responsibilities

* Description of role: multiple openings across Northern Tasmania.
* Water Services Operator (Rocherlea) – Duties include pipe repairs, responding to sewer blockages, and performing network maintenance on water and sewer mains.
* Wastewater Services Operator (Launceston) – Responsible for operating sewer treatment plants, maintaining and operating sewer pump stations, and overseeing general plant operations.
* Water Services Operator (Deloraine) – A multi‐skilled role involving water treatment, sewer treatment, pumping operations, and network pipe repairs.
* Opportunities for fixed‐term or permanent positions.
* Training in water and wastewater industry operations, treatment practices, and associated skills will be delivered through our training partners, with ongoing coaching and mentoring.
* Structuring for work‐life balance: 9‐day fortnight, planned rostering, advance notice of on‐call requirements.
* Remuneration: $82,680.88 to $87,247.25 (including 15.5% superannuation), hourly rate $35.81 to $37.80 post‐probation.

Qualifications

* A practical, hands‐on mindset and interest in learning a new industry.
* A strong safety focus and ability to follow procedures.
* Good customer service skills and a collaborative, team‐based approach.
* Willingness to participate in training, on‐call and overtime arrangements.
* Meet the physical requirements for the role, which include lifting, kneeling, and working in confined and outdoor spaces. Mechanical aids, team‐based work and safe work practices are used to support operators.
* Participate in structured on‐call, occasional overtime and emergency call‐out situations (all with additional pay).
