About the Role
The Prison Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operational needs of accommodation and/or security areas. They will be accountable for managing a team of custodial and non-custodial officers delivering a range of correctional services.
This role requires strong leadership skills, with developed capabilities to coach, mentor, and motivate staff. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills in a multidisciplinary team and rehabilitative environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to creating and sustaining a positive and healthy workforce culture built on solid values, professional excellence, and teamwork.
* Lead by example and demonstrate in your day-to-day interactions each of the DJCS values and behaviours.
* Maintain a healthy and safe workplace by acting immediately upon receipt of any bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, or inappropriate behaviour complaint, report, or observation.
* Lead and manage staff to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a correctional environment.
* Demonstrated commitment to working with staff, prisoners, and other service providers in the delivery of an integrated, whole of Justice approach to reducing re-offending.
* Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software.
