Primary objective
As a member of the administration team, provide school-wide support to foster relationships and maintain communications between
Ngukurr School, families, community, and external agencies to improve student engagement, wellbeing, and education outcomes; and
manage the Student Administration Management System (SAMS) as per Department of Education and Training (DET) Protocols.

Context statement
Ngukurr School is a large remote school with an enrolment of 270 students. Ngukurr is located approximately 300 km southeast of
Katherine on the Roper River. The school has two campuses that caters for children and young people from birth through to Year 12. The
Guluman Centre provides a childcare service, a Families as First Teachers Program and a preschool program. At school programs cater for
students from Transition through to Year 12. These programs include the Gudwan Wei a values based program to promote and maintain
an orderly learning environment, a strong literacy program commencing with Read write Inc Phonics and includes a Kriol and Indigenous
Languages Program. The Learning on Country Program provides opportunities for literacy, numeracy, and pathways for employment.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Management of SAMS processes including collaborations with DoE Office-based teams to facilitate enrolments, student movements,

attendance data and student information, and supply reports to leadership and teachers as requested.
2. Contribute to a caring and supportive environment that encourages student wellbeing and sustains school attendance and engagement

with learning programs.
3. Establish and promote rapport between school, teaching teams, families, and external agencies to ensure that the objectives of

education services are known and appreciated, and support leadership with access to appropriate community networks.
4. Collaborate with Leadership to create a culturally inclusive school environment, facilitate community involvement in school activities,

and advise on cultural and administrative protocols.
5. Work with Principal to coordinate visitor and cultural activities, student permissions, and liaison with support agencies, such as Family

Services and Ngukurr Clinic, to ensure students and families receive assistance when needed.
6. Provide administrative and professional support services in keeping with the primary objective of this position, and as directed by the

Principal.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in the use of data management systems and common office software programs.
2. Proven interpersonal and organisational skills resulting in effective team membership as well as ability to work with initiative,

independence, and complete confidentiality in managing workloads and meeting professional expectations.
3. Proven ability to communicate effectively with students and their families in a culturally sensitive environment and develop community

networks and partnerships with stakeholders to support student participation and wellbeing.
4. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication to assist in the planning and implementation of strategies and programs to

positively contribute to student learning outcomes, including facilitation of conflict resolution and solution focused approaches to
service delivery.

5. Local knowledge of Ngukurr Community, families and cultural protocols and proven communication skills in local Indigenous languages.
6. Current NT Drivers' Licence for C vehicles.

Desirable
1. Certificate, graduate or post-graduate studies in educational administration / community services or a related discipline.
2. Current NT Drivers' Licence for LR vehicles and First Aid Certificate
