Furrow: Producer field trials and demonstration opportunity
* Producers in Victoria and Southern NSW to participate in on-farm deployments and demonstrations of remote water infrastructure management and automation technology.
Opportunity description
Industry challenge
Furrow is developing a new wave of hardware and software products to manage water in-farm, from stock water tank-fill automation, trough monitoring, automated run-off and irrigation network management through to pump station management, maintenance and fault prediction and pump efficiency reporting.
Furrow is seeking expressions of interest from producers in Victoria and Southern NSW to participate in on-farm deployments and demonstrations of remote water infrastructure management and automation technology.
Deployments to occur in the 2nd half of 2025, would be at no cost to the producer and are expected to run for a minimum of 6 months.
There will be up tp 4 properties selected for demonstration across two broad categories; stock water management, and irrigation management (all types of irrigation considered).
Irrigation deployments may include but not limited to:
* flow monitoring and autonomous channel fill,
* automation of run-off water (tail-water) collection,
* piped and overhead irrigation systems,
* pump efficiency and;
* maintenance planning tools (incl. fuel).
Stock water deployments may include:
* tank level monitoring and fill automation,
* trough sensing (level, flow, obstruction, usage monitoring); and
* supply automation.
The demonstrations would explore the use of various modes of user interaction with the system and focus on automation over simple monitoring, reducing site visits, decreasing equipment downtime, and user alerting only upon exception or fault.
Properties will need to have relatively modern infrastructure, an active turnover as far as water movement is concerned, cellular coverage at points of interest, and producers/managers that would be willing to make use of the technology and potentially contribute to its development.
Opportunity background
Furrow's development focus is on providing robust and reliable building blocks for sophisticated farm-wide irrigation and stock-water automation.
Potential other applications
This technology has the potential to be used across other industries where unmanned, and remote water management infrastructure exists.
