About the Role
As the Digital Media Advisor for the Office of the Hon. Rose Jackson MLC, you’ll be responsible for capturing the day-to-day work of the Minister and turning it into engaging digital stories. This includes recognising and leveraging opportunities within social media platforms, traditional journalism, digital media, and developing content strategies tailored to the needs of the office.
This role sits at the centre of communicating the work of the Minister, the Hon. Rose Jackson MLC, and the Government across key priority areas including public housing, mental health, youth and essential services such as water.
These priorities shape people’s day to day lives, from having a safe place to call home to accessing support when it is needed and relying on essential services.
The position is responsible for capturing the day to day work of the Minister and translating it into clear, engaging and accessible digital content. This includes communicating complex policy in a way that is meaningful to the community and reflects the Government’s priorities.
The role requires a balance of practical digital capability and strong judgement. It is not only about producing content, but about shaping how the Government’s work is understood, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent and grounded in the lived experiences of the people it affects.
You will work closely with a small, high performing team in a fast paced environment, contributing to both proactive storytelling and responsive communications.
Key Responsibilities
* Create, edit and publish high quality digital content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook
* Capture day to day activities of the Minister, including announcements, site visits and community engagement
* Translate policy, announcements and issues into clear, accessible and engaging content
* Support the development and delivery of digital communication strategies aligned with Government priorities
* Monitor media and digital channels and respond to emerging issues in a timely and appropriate way
* Contribute to messaging, talking points and broader communication materials as required
* Work collaboratively within the Ministerial office to support communications outcomes
We’re Looking For
This is a hands on Digital Media Advisor role within a Ministerial office. You will be responsible for delivering high quality content at pace, while contributing to broader narrative and messaging.
Digital Content Production
Demonstrated ability to create, edit and publish high quality digital content quickly and accurately
Proficiency in major video editing software such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut or CapCut
Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator or Canva
Strong understanding of platform specific content across Instagram, TikTok, X and Facebook
Narrative and Messaging Skills
Ability to translate complex policy and sensitive issues into clear, accessible and engaging content
Strong understanding of how to frame messages and contribute to broader communication objectives
Experience supporting the development of narratives that reflect Government priorities
Media and Digital Awareness
Understanding of the media landscape and how stories develop across traditional and digital channels
Ability to identify opportunities, anticipate issues and respond in a timely and appropriate way
Written Communication
Highly developed writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise and persuasive content across a range of formats including social media, talking points and speeches
Judgement and Professionalism
Sound judgement and an understanding of the responsibilities associated with working in a Ministerial environment
Ability to manage sensitive information and communicate issues with care and accuracy
Resilience and Delivery
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
