Fast-Growing Manufacturing Business
Central Steel Build is embarking on a major AI, automation, and systems transformation. With a turnover of ~$65M and strong growth ambitions, we are implementing a full company-wide AI and automation roadmap.
We are now searching for a strategic and hands-on technology leader who can own the architecture, build the data foundations, and lead our evolution into a modern, data-driven manufacturing organisation.
Reporting to the CEO, this role has enterprise‐wide accountability for architecture, data platforms, system integration, analytics, and AI governance.
The Role
The Head of Technology & Data is a strategic and hands‐on leader responsible for:
* Designing and owning the enterprise architecture.
* Establishing CSB's AI operating model and governance.
* Leading all system integration, automation, and data strategy.
* Building and maintaining the Unified Analytics Layer.
* Ensuring CSB has clean, reliable, real-time data to power AI agents, automated workflows, reporting, and future innovation.
* Acting as the key executive partner to our external AI consultants while embedding capability inside CSB.
This is a role for a CTO-level leader who can think strategically AND tactically execute.
This is a lead-by-doing and lead-by-thinking role. While you are not expected to build all solutions personally, you must be deeply comfortable with the detail – able to engage credibly with infrastructure architects, software engineers, data specialists, and vendors, and make informed decisions that balance technical excellence with business value.
About You
You will thrive in this role if you have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
* 8+ years of experience across technology leadership, enterprise architecture, or data engineering
* Experience integrating or architecting around NetSuite or a similar ERP
* Strong hands-on capability in Microsoft ecosystems, SQL, Azure, ETL/ELT pipelines, and Power BI.
* Understanding of APIs, integrations, and workflow automation
* A passion for agentic AI, automation, and improving how people work.
* Experience in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or supply chain environments (preferred)
* You enjoy both long-term strategy and rolling up your sleeves to build.
