Job Description
Opportunity for a Emergency Response Team (ERT) member to join our team based in Garden Island. The ERT assist in the operation and functionality of naval and commercial projects in conjunction with Managers/Project managers and supervisors for the effective control of Heights & Confined Spaces and Emergency Response activities on various vessels.
Key Responsibilities
* Ship Security and gangway duties, answering ship phone line and Control ship site access
* Check Ventilation of compartments (Ships Rounds)
* Complete emergency exercise drills daily
* Monitor activities conducted within the Ship e.g. tanks, pits, voids, heights and Confined Spaces.
* Respond to all high risk work emergencies
* Liaise between Contractors and leading hands, Project managers to ensure equipment and resources are available to meet the ships requirements and Rescue plans
* Oversee the process of tank Opening and Closing and reports for all confined Space activities.
* Control daily activities conducted in Confined Spaces.
* Daily Checks of Rescue Equipment and ensure all items are available tested and inspected within test date.
* Respond to Emergencies and back up the Ship Staff Rescue Team
* Liaise with Navy, Project and WHS to ensure best safety practices are implemented.

* Completed Team Leadership Certificate or will to obtain.

* Ensure Thales OH&S Regulations are carried out on the job
* Knowledge of Fire Suppression and Fire Extinguisher usage
* Confined space rescue ticketed
* Vertical Rescue Ticketed
* First Aid
* Gast test atmosphere qualification
* Enter and work in a confined space qualification
* Working Safely at heights qualification
* Undertake Fire Control & Emergency Rescue

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
