Specialist Pharmacy Technician Logistics and Distribution

Are you looking to work in a friendly, fast-paced environment? We are looking for a keen registered Pharmacy Technician who will be able to work independently and as part of a team to support within the Central Pharmacy Stores with leading automations and supporting day-to-day operations of Central Pharmacy.

The keen individual will be expected to line manage Pharmacy Assistants and support with day-to-day running of the department, working closely alongside the Principal Pharmacy Technician to maintain KPIs and maintain and promote GDP at all times.

Maintaining inventory and space will be a large part of automation, supporting stock holding and workflow of medicines being distributed to wards and outside units in a timely manner.

Main duties of the job

You will assist the Principal Technician - Purchasing, Supply and Logistics - Pharmacy to manage the daily requirements of the automated stock system (Robot) and the associated processes.

You will support the Senior Pharmacy Technician - CPSD Team Leaders with leading and line managing a team of Pharmacy Assistants in all areas and assist with referrals of complex service delivery problems.

You will be responsible for coordinating training provided to the Stores and Distribution Team, to colleagues, rotational staff, and Pharmacy Trainees as required.

You will assist Principal Technician - Purchasing, Supply and Logistics - Pharmacy by actively working towards maintaining key performance targets and monitor quality of service provided.

You will assist Principal Technician - Purchasing, Supply and Logistics - Pharmacy in ensuring Good Distribution practice (GDP) training is delivered and recorded for each member of the Stores and Distribution, rotational staff, and Pharmacy Trainees as required.

You will be a key contact to communicate effectively with colleagues, wider pharmacy team, and service users for updates on the automated system.

Person Specification

Qualifications

- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Minimum qualification NVQ3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Science, or CGLI / Apothecaries Hall pre 1985 certificates or equivalent
- Evidence of Continuing Career development
- Membership of Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APTUK)
- Train the Trainer

Experience

- Hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent relevant area of practice
- Experience of pharmacy computer systems for ordering, stock control, and managing pharmaceuticals
- Working in a customer-focused environment
- Experience of line management and team management
- Experience of undertaking audits
- Working with electronic prescribing and administration systems
- Experience of working in Pharmacy Distribution and Logistics related area
- Experience of automated stock control management
- Experience of leading on key projects
- Experience of team leadership
- Experience of disciplinary matters and be able to impart results from them to staff in an appropriate and considered manner

Knowledge

- Knowledge of Pharmacy stock control procedures
- Knowledge of automated systems (robot)
- Audit techniques and management of the audit process
- Knowledge of MHRA governance processes
- Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards
- Knowledge of unlicensed medicines
- Knowledge of MHRA inspections
- Collate and review audit criteria
- Knowledge of digital audit processes

Skills

- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
- Exceptional organisation and investigative skills with attention to detail
- Communication with key groups or service users / internal and external stakeholders
- Computer literate with detailed functional knowledge of Word, Excel, and Pharmacy computer systems

- The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors, and colleagues according to the Trust values of Safe, Kind, Excellent
- Demonstrate that they can: -Build a rapport with learners / team -Adapt verbal / written communication and feedback to a learner's / team individual needs
