Principal Finance Business Partner | BMA | Brisbane An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic, and commercially astute professional to join the BMA Finance Business Partnership team as Principal Finance Business Partner. This 18‑month fixed term contract or secondment, based in our Brisbane office with regular site travel, plays a critical role in partnering with site leadership to create and protect value across BMA’s large open‑cut operations.
As Principal Finance Business Partner, you will partner with the business to create and protect value, working alongside a specialist financial partner who are strategic partners to the business (GM and Site Lead Team). You will provide financial advice, develop relationships, build financial acumen in the asset, and improve the quality of business decisions by analysing financial data and valuing opportunities to enhance business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Influence and challenge the site teams in cost control, productivity, capital allocation and continuous improvement
Manage, mentor and guide a specialist in providing financial insight, value coaching and business acumen to decision making
Coach and build finance capability with key stakeholders and the use of information systems to determine cost and budget outcomes
Support core planning deliverables for the site, including input into 2-year business plans, quarterly forecasts, and capital portfolio prioritisation
Identify, engage, and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
Apply an understanding of the business context and end‑to‑end value chain to deliver value maximising opportunities
Translate corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing and analysing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy
Make evidence‑based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer‑term business objectives
About You To be successful in this role, you will manage multiple competing priorities, delegate effectively and maintain ownership of overall outcomes. You will have strong attention to detail, the ability to achieve deadlines, manage ambiguity, solve problems, proactively identify and resolve complex issues, think creatively and drive change, and possess excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
To be considered for the role you will be degree qualified with more than 7 years of experience in resources, manufacturing, finance business partnership, consulting, or engineering. Operational finance experience is preferred but not essential.
