Senior Consultant at Taylor Hopkinson | Offshore Wind
About the Role
We are supporting a leading renewable energy operator in the search for an experienced Control Room Lead to oversee 24/7 operational activities for a growing portfolio of wind, solar, and battery energy storage assets across Australia.
This is a key technical and leadership position responsible for coordinating real-time operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, and supporting the safe and reliable performance of all generation assets. The role requires strong electrical and SCADA knowledge, as well as experience working with network service providers such as TransGrid.
The position involves leading a small team of Control Room Operators on a 12-hour rotating roster (4 days on, 4 days off), covering both day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate 24/7 operational control of renewable generation assets in compliance with market, network, and safety requirements.
* Manage communication and coordination with TransGrid and other network providers to maintain system stability and response readiness.
* Oversee the use of SCADA systems to monitor plant performance, identify operational risks, and initiate appropriate response actions.
* Support operational compliance with power purchase agreements, O&M contracts, and grid codes.
* Ensure all alarms, outages, and operational events are managed, logged, and escalated in accordance with procedures.
* Conduct performance analysis of plant events, system trips, and electrical incidents to support reliability improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or trade qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field .
* Minimum 6 years' experience in power plant operations or control room environments.
* Proven experience with SCADA systems, grid operations, and real-time control environments.
* Strong understanding of power system dynamics, network protection, and high-voltage operations.
* Experience working with TransGrid or similar transmission operators.
* Demonstrated leadership skills in a 24/7 operational environment.
