Penrhos College has an exciting leadership opportunity for someone with a vision for excellence in Mathematics and innovation in teaching practices commencing Semester 2, 2026.
The Head of Department (Mathematics) plays a key role in the development and implementation of innovative academic programs and provision of high-quality tuition within the College. We aim to provide students with a wide range of opportunities to achieve their academic potential. The Head of Department will lead a dynamic team of teachers and oversee the development, management, and regular review of a future-focused curriculum in the Secondary School. The Head of Department will collaborate with peers and the College's Senior Leadership team to support the College's vision and future direction. The load distribution for this 1.0 FTE position will be 0.4 FTE for Head of Department duties and 0.6 FTE Teaching.

The successful applicant will have
* A Bachelor of Education or a degree qualification supported by a Post Graduate Diploma of Education
* Current Teacher Registration Board of WA Membership including a Working with Children card (WWC)

Selection criteria to address in your cover letter
* Provide instructional and innovative pedagogical leadership for a team that reflects student-centred, and future-focused practices
* Ensure the Mathematics curriculum is delivered at the highest level to support each student achieving their personal best
* Ability to inspire, mentor, and lead a team of staff to achieve their personal best
* Academic accountability including year 7 to 12 scope and sequence, curriculum planning documents, assessment schedules and tasks and reviewing of data to support student progress and performance
* Demonstrated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competence and the ability to integrate ICT into the Mathematics learning environment
