This Architectural & Engineering Specialist II is responsible for managing the creation and distribution of A/E construction documents throughout all project phases, supporting the annual capital construction program for a major retail client. Responsibilities include hiring outside A/E teams, coordinating and tracking their work to ensure timely deliverables, and supporting team members to keep projects on schedule.
The role ensures construction documents are accurate and complete before bidding, manages pre-planning and due diligence for remodels, takeovers, or expansions, and plays a key role in controlling quality, cost, and schedule of store development projects.
Responsibilities include:
1. Establishing and monitoring schedules for A&E drawings and review processes for various store projects.
2. Maintaining project status tracking documents across all development phases.
3. Updating and maintaining A&E criteria documents to reflect new design standards and address recurring issues.
4. Soliciting proposals and awarding contracts to external architectural and MEP consultants.
5. Overseeing the due diligence and document process to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
6. Developing scope and schedules for due diligence surveys by external teams.
7. Ensuring complete distribution of due diligence reports.
8. Coordinating on-site walkthroughs with client teams and documenting project scope and updates.
9. Communicating updates and changes to relevant teams and ensuring proper approval of fixture plan changes.
10. Participating in pre-opening walkthroughs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related field.
- 4-10 years experience in store development, preferably supermarkets/grocery.
- Knowledge of architectural design, engineering concepts, construction methods, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, and timelines.
- Proficiency in Excel.
Travel: 10%-20% within the geographic area of client stores.
