- This is an exciting opportunity to lead MBRC’s _**_Floodplain Management Team_** within our broader Drainage Waterways and Coastal Planning department. The primary focus of this department is to plan, manage and design the region's coastal, stormwater and floodplain management infrastructure, including built and natural form assets, consistent with Council's corporate strategic vision, policies and strategies. 
**About our opportunity** 
As our **_Coordinator Floodplain Management Engineering_** you will lead and manage a team responsible for effective floodplain management planning to meet the needs of our community. Effective Floodplain Management is a critical to many core functions of MBRC, including Strategic Planning, Development Assessment, Disaster Management and Infrastructure Planning. 
Leveraging the RFD enhancements, Council is also expanding and enriching its Flood Warning systems, with the planned development of detailed, whole-of-region, flood forecasting tools and methods to allow live forecasting in all our waterways (including flash flood catchments). This is another exciting and leading edge technical development area that will better serve our community during times of natural disaster. 
As a leader you will drive a high performance, continuous improvement and customer focussed team culture - working collaboratively with your team and peers. You will lead a team of engineering specialists delivering complex hydrologic and hydraulic flood modelling assessment in urban and regional drainage systems. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of Council policy in all areas affected by floodplain processes, and to oversee the ongoing development of asset management plans relating to floodplain management and flood warning systems. 
During times of flood disaster, you will take up a central role in Councill’s Flood Information Centre, which provides realtime updates to the **Local Disaster Coordination Centre** about the evolving flood emergency, including current flood affects, emerging flood issues and longer term outlooks. This is a crucial role supporting our community through such disaster events

**About you** 
We are seeking someone who has knowledge, experience and a passion for floodplain management planning. You will demonstrate industry recognised expertise in floodplain modelling, particularly in the use of TUFLOW and WBNM. 
You will be leading a team of engineering specialists achieving high performance outcomes and possess the ability to coach and mentor your team in all aspects of floodplain management. 
You will have proven experience in the planning and development of concept designs for flood infrastructure projects that deliver effective flood mitigation for the community.
