Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join our nursing team in the General Surgical and Medical Ward. The ward has 32 beds, including 4 dedicated cardiac beds, and handles post-operative patients from various specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, urology, neurology, plastic surgery, ENT, and pediatric care for children as young as 2 years old. We also manage elective medical admissions.
Work Schedule
The ward operates on a rotating roster, requiring staff to work morning (AM), afternoon (PM), and night (ND) shifts.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality nursing care for patients recovering from surgical and medical conditions across various specialties.
* Monitor cardiac patients using telemetry, including vital signs and heart rhythms.
* Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as per physician orders.
* Manage post-operative recovery, ensuring assessments and timely interventions.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
* Educate patients and families on post-operative care, wound care, and lifestyle modifications.
* Perform assessments and document findings accurately.
* Respond promptly to patient condition changes, especially in emergencies.
* Follow hospital policies to ensure patient safety and comfort.
Candidate Requirements
* Current AHPRA registration.
* Experience caring for surgical and medical patients, including pediatric nursing.
* Ability to administer and manage post-operative care in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
* Ability to work rotating shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights.
* ACLS and BLS certifications are desirable.
