The Department of Finance has multiple job vacancies across the Risk and Insurance Branch and the Comcover and Discretionary Payment Claims Branch. The roles are in the Comcover Claims Management team, the Fund Member Services team and the Risk and Education Policy team. Together these three teams are responsible for Comcover, the Australian Government's self-managed insurance fund, which provides broad-ranging coverage for the insurable risks of around 170 General Government Sector entities across the Australian Government ('Fund Members').
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Key responsibilities across these positions may include:
* Preparation of high-quality advice and analysis on whole of government complex issues including committee papers, reports, briefing papers, speeches, and Ministerial correspondence.
* The management of and liaison with Comcover's contracted service providers which include: claims management, insurance brokers; risk advisors; insurance advisors; and overseas medical evacuation service providers.
* Undertake strategic analysis and critical thinking to support:
* the effective management of insurable risk across the Commonwealth and improve the responsiveness of the Comcover fund to emerging risks;
* identification of cross Commonwealth common and shared enterprise risks to inform understanding and insights of the whole of government risk environment;
* Providing recommendations to delegates on the strategic management of legal claims and instructing contracted legal providers in the management of such claims.
* Coordinate and support the delivery of the Comcover Risk Benchmarking Survey, other risk management capability uplift initiatives, and projects for Fund Members to enhance risk management capability across whole of government.
* Support and shape the strategic direction of whole of government initiatives, such as the Commonwealth Risk Management Committee and contributing to enhancing contract management capability across the Commonwealth.
* Act as a primary contact for Fund Members, ensuring timely and professional responses to enquiries and service requests.
* Interpret and communicate the Comcover Statement of Cover, including its terms, conditions, and implications for entities.
* Manage and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, including coordination with internal and external partners to support service delivery.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvements, including identifying opportunities to enhance client experience and operational efficiency.
* Proactively identify any potential improvements to a Fund Member's risk practices or insurance arrangements
* Employ strategic and critical thinking in providing advice and recommendations to Finance executive, Fund Members or Ministers.
