JAPPO DONKS TYRES, WHEELS & BATTERIES PTY LTD is seeking a skilled Motor Mechanic to join their team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Carefully listen to customer's concerns and accurately interpret vehicle symptoms and issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and conduct tests to identify mechanical, electrical, and performance-related faults.
• Explain vehicle problems, repair options, and estimated costs to customers in a clear and professional manner, obtaining approval before commencing work.
• Inspect and dismantle engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and related components for repair or replacement.
• Examine mechanical parts for wear, damage, or defects and determine necessary corrective actions.
• Repair or replace malfunctioning components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and electrical units.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and tune-ups.
• Reassemble engines and mechanical systems following repairs, ensuring proper function and reliability.
• Refer to service manuals and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with manufacturer standards.
• Conduct performance and safety tests after repairs to confirm that systems meet operational standards.
• Optimise engine performance and fuel efficiency through precise adjustments and part replacements.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and pollution control standards during maintenance and repair activities.
• Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and provide on-site emergency mechanical assistance.
• Maintain detailed service records of all repairs, parts used, diagnostic findings, and labour hours for accurate billing and future reference.
• Keep the workshop organised, clean, and safe by adhering to workplace health and safety protocols.
• Stay updated with emerging automotive technologies, tools, and repair methods through ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications and other requirements
• Completion of a Certificate IV or an equivalent qualification in a relevant automotive field.
• At least three years of recent, full-time experience as a qualified motor mechanic.
• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, braking, and electrical components.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks involving lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
