Primary objective
As part of the school leadership team, provide educational leadership and management and implement departmental and
school-based policies and programs to achieve optimal educational outcomes for students.
Context statement
Sadadeen Primary School includes the KITES program, Nathalie Gorey Preschool and Ida Standley Preschool located in the
eastern suburbs of Alice Springs with an approximate enrolment of 180 students, P-6. Many of our students are from diverse
cultural backgrounds, including a cohort of approximately 75% who are Aboriginal. We work closely with our families, allied
health professionals and agencies within Alice Springs to support the inclusion and engagement needs of our students, 60%
of whom have an additional need or disability indicator. We provide many pathways and programs that allow all learners to
participate in rich learning programs including a focus on Trauma Informed practices and wellbeing across all year levels.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure the delivery of effective educational programs to meet the needs of students in line with departmental policy
through effective leadership and positive partnerships with the school community.
2. Provide leadership and support in the formulation, review and implementation of school policy, procedures and strategic
plans to achieve educational outcomes in partnership with the school community.
3. Contribute to and supervise the development and implementation of curriculum and assessment plans in line with
departmental policy to meet student needs.
4. Support the Principal in the provision of human, financial and physical resources, and administrative matters, in
accordance with departmental policy, to meet the identified needs of the school community and to achieve educational
outcomes and the goals of the Annual School Improvement Plan.
5. Undertake an appropriate teaching load.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board and current Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card)
or ability to obtain.
2. Proven ability to lead teams, coach and mentor staff to achieve professional growth, and school and system strategic
priorities, leading to the achievement of quality learning outcomes for all students, preferably in a distance education
context.
3. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and curriculum practice advice to others to facilitate effective educational
outcomes for students.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of the Australian Curriculum, Early Year’s Learning
Framework, quality teaching and learning practices and assessment, confirmation and reporting processes.
5. Capacity to use strategic thinking and analytical skills to achieve the goals of the Annual School Improvement Plan.
6. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills enabling the development of productive partnerships with
staff, students and parents from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Desirable
1. Post graduate qualification in educational leadership or equivalent.
2. Experience in the delivery of Read Write Inc
3. Experience in Trauma Informed Practices
