Primary objective
The Project Officer provides quality project management services to the Organisational Improvement team for a range of projects
and initiatives, to ensure the timely and effective implementation of key priorities.
Context statement
The Organisational Improvement team is responsible for delivering initiatives across the agency that focus on organisational
improvement, including promotion of CM and C's values, strengthen our positive workplace culture, and identifying ways to make
improvements in all areas of the Department.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide project management support services, advice and support to the Project Manager and other senior departmental staff
on matters relating to project initiatives including, research and analysis, establishing and maintaining reporting schedules.
2. Contribute to the drafting of reports, briefings and correspondence including but not limited to departmental, Ministerial and
Cabinet, and provide secretariat support at inter-departmental, external meetings and forums.
3. Develop and maintain effective stakeholder engagement frameworks and coordinate information and advice across NT
Government agencies.
4. Identify synergies and opportunities to improve coordination, efficiencies, and effectiveness in relation to the team's services,
and contribute to the change management process.
5. Contribute to a culture of achievement with a focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of client services through
a high level of professionalism, innovation and quality client focus.
6. Ensure the maintenance of effective metrics, monitoring and reporting systems in all areas of responsibility.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound knowledge of contemporary project management frameworks, methodologies, tools, and processes relevant to the
delivery of complex strategies including evaluation.
2. Well-developed ability to consider ramifications of a related range of issues, understand work priorities and contribute to the
development of goals and plans that support the Department's objectives.
3. Knowledge of tactics relevant to stakeholder engagement and management in politically sensitive environments.
4. Well-developed ability to achieve outcomes and respond in a positive, flexible manner in an environment of ongoing change,
uncertainty, and pressure.
5. Sound knowledge of a range of computer software, use of databases, spreadsheets, email, internet, and other commonly used
office administration software.
6. Demonstrated strong work ethic, with evidence of an ability to set and achieve goals with minimal supervision, meet deadlines
and produce quality work both individually and as a team member.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in project management or a similar management qualification.
