Head Theatre Technician – Knox Private
The Head Theatre Technician is responsible for leading effective coordination and efficient management of the theatre technician team within the perioperative environment.
Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, the Head Theatre Technician is accountable for coordinating and delivering safe and comprehensive patient‐centred care within their scope of practice and in alignment with policies and guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Maintain accreditation standards within the Operations Unit.
* Supervise and train Theatre Technicians Grade 1 to 5.
* Recruitment and budgeted EFT management, inclusive of roster and leave management and orientation to new staff.
* Conduct performance appraisals.
* Escalate and report issues through the appropriate management line.
* Promote and drive theatre efficiency and staff culture and morale.
* Ensure availability of equipment and supplies that meet departmental needs.
* Develop and provide training to the team based on training needs analysis.
* Ensure staff compliance with mandatory training requirements.
Essential Criteria
* Certificate IV in Health Service Assistance (Operating Theatre Technical Support).
* Three years' experience post‐certificate IV.
* Completed specialty training in areas such as cell saving, laser, stealth, organ retrieval or spinal care.
* Ability to work in all areas of the operating suite with comprehensive knowledge of each clinical specialty offered.
* A high degree of autonomy and accountability.
* Exceptional communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Cert IV training and assessment.
* Previous experience as Grade 4 or above.
