Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Mobile Plant) - Northern Territory
Exact Contracting Services has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Mobile Plant) based on Civil Projects in the NT.
The Role
This role will be site based and the successful candidate is expected to work a fly in/fly out (FIFO) roster on one of our remote projects and attend trade school in Darwin, Northern Territory.
Often working outdoors in hot, dry and dusty conditions you will work with our qualified and skilled Trades Persons to develop skills to undertake servicing, repairs and maintenance to our fleet of earth moving plant and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Working a DIDO/FIFO roster – 14 days on, 7 days off;
* Completing 6:00am until 6:00pm shifts (12 hours);
* Attending and successfully completing Trade School in Darwin, working towards completing an Apprenticeship through internal and external training at an RTO;
* Working as part of a team to ensure safe, continuous and environmentally responsible operations;
* Maintaining and promoting high standards in the areas of Health and Safety.
What the Successful Candidate Will Have
* Must be a Northern Territory resident;
* Current Driver's Licence (essential);
* 100% commitment to safe work practices;
* Basic mechanical knowledge;
* Passion for the industry and trade;
* Desire to work and learn on the job;
* Willingness to follow instructions and ask for assistance when needed;
* Ability to work away from home, working flexible hours and rosters;
* Communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with a wide range of people;
* Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team;
* Demonstrated punctuality and reliability;
* Sound written, verbal and computer skills.

Pre‑Employment
All candidates will be required to pass a National Police Clearance (within 3 months), pre‑employment medical, and a drug and alcohol screen.
As our projects are often in remote and regional Australia, you will be required to work on sites which are often hot, dry, dusty and/or humid.
