Our client is a successful and progressive agricultural company operating a large commercial and stud Angus and composite operation in the Southern Tablelands region of NSW. The operation is at the forefront of cattle breeding and technology with a focus on genetic improvement of their herd through AI and ET programs as well as feed efficiency testing and large-scale supplementary feeding. Regenerative farming practices are implemented across the properties ensuring maximum production is achieved in a sustainable way.
With a recent team restructure, our client is looking for people who are passionate and capable to drive the business to achieve their goals. Seeking the highest calibre of Livestock Assistant Manager with a salary package negotiated to match. The role offers the opportunity to manage the livestock operations across two properties consisting of a total of 1400 ha and running 500 Angus cows and 400 composite cows, 100 recipient cows, and 400 trading cattle. In addition, there is also a leased property located near Forbes that runs a further 500 cows.
The properties are in the process of an intensive development program to ensure the infrastructure and layout can support the implementation of regenerative practices. This will require you as the successful applicant to have a sound understanding of, and interest in regenerative farming. You will be able to implement management practices concentrated on pasture management with mínimal chemical inputs and intensive rotational grazing to provide better and healthier pastures to increase the carbon content of soils and provide animals with a better nutritional profile.
We are searching for a person who has the following attributes and skills:
- Experience in all aspects of cattle health and husbandry. 
- Ability to work with cattle 
- understanding ET and AI programming. 
- Self-motivated and able to manage your time effectively and efficiently. 
- Diligence for attention to detail. 
- Understanding of machinery maintenance. 
- HR, ChemCert, forklift operation and firearm licenses will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will be someone who has a desire to learn, a strong interest in cattle breeding and is computer savvy with the need for attention to detail in recording data and keeping records up to date. Our client prides themselves on low stress stock handling and you must be competent and confident in low stress handling techniques. You will be self-motivated, can follow a plan, take direction, work well within a team and be responsible for stock movements. The team includes farm management and staff, the owner, and consultants.
