About the Role
As the Base Maintenance Manager, you will report to the NASE Engineering Manager (EM) and be responsible for managing, overseeing compliance, and providing leadership for maintenance services conducted by the Part 145 Maintenance Organisation.
While this role is based at our Adelaide operation, it requires collaboration with the National Engineering team to support daily operational objectives. Additionally, this position holds the CASR Part 145 Responsible Manager designation, subject to CASA approval.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Hold safety as a core value and champion the workplace to the achievement of a zero harm and incident/injury free environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to the position.
* Actively support and promote the Company's Safety Management System and Workplace Health and Safety systems (as described in the Group Safety and Quality Manual) by ensuring employees comply with the Safety Management System processes and procedures, by the provision of appropriate direction and resources and by monitoring safety activities and performance.
* Maintain an understanding of this MOE and governing regulations (CASA, ISO etc.).
* Manage day to day operation of the maintenance facility to best achieve performance required and meet contract and operational deliverables.
* Manage manpower availability to best achieve performance required to meet contract and operational deliverables.
* Be familiar with the MOE and Procedures manuals suite, including duties and responsibilities as detailed in the MOE for a MM.
* Provide leadership and engagement for all engineering and support staff within regions, driving continuous improvement.
* Management oversight of Line and Base Maintenance budgets, including overtime, annual leave, sick leave, and all engineering base overheads. Drive cost saving initiatives where possible.
* Be responsible for all safety, quality, operational and compliance matters. Ensure effective communication with the NASE EM on all safety and compliance matters.
* Ensure all aircraft and AP maintenance, including defect rectification, is carried out to the standard of and in accordance with the MOE and relevant and responsible CAMO requirements.
* Develop and encourage engineering employees to deliver, best practice and performance in safety reporting, quality, teamwork, productivity and efficiency.
* Be responsible for Maintenance Personnel's understanding of the MOE and to drive the application of the MOE to ensure compliance with relevant CASR
* Assist and provide full cooperation with auditors and investigators during audits and investigations.
* Ensure quality and safety audit finding remedial and/or corrective action are carried out and implemented in a timely manner.
* Liaise as necessary with responsible CAMOs, Suppliers and Subcontractors.
* Support and promote the SMS, QMS and a Just Culture; and
* Perform other duties as directed by the NASE EM or DOE.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Experience in a similar role under the former Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 or CASR 1998; or
* A Bachelor of Aviation Management or equivalent qualification, or completion of relevant units of competency from the qualification; or
* At least five years of aviation experience as a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer, including a minimum of two years in aviation management within a CASR Part 145 environment.
